Gannet Cottage is an original Fisherman's nineteenth century cottage built in a unique position on the seafront in Gardenstown. From the gable of the house to the sea at high tide is approx 10 feet. The cottage provides the perfect retreat for anyone looking for an escape from day to day life. The noise of traffic is replaced by the sound of waves crashing against the sea wall.
Gannet cottage has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds, as well as a sitting room, bathroom and an eating kitchen. Maximum occupancy is for four adults. A travelling cot can also be made available for a small child on request.
From the property you can look across the beach to More Head in the distance and high on the hill the ancient cemetery of St Johns.
Unlike many buildings which are modernised and can lose their charm, we have tried to keep the cottage in as original a state as possible. The doors have low headroom, a steep stairs leads to the bedrooms upstairs, with the main bedroom off the stairs, and there are no modern fitted kitchen units. With a cosy coal fire burning, you could be forgiven for forgetting what decade you are in.
However, although you are stepping back in time, we realise that comfort comes first so you will find all modern facilities are available including a television with dvd player, a stereo system, and there is electric heating in the four main rooms.
Electricity and all bed linen are included in the rental and there is a landline phone within the house for incoming calls.
